UDHAMPUR, Feb 25: DDC member from Panchari Moungri, Jasvir Singh, today said the Government needs to review the Marriage Assistance Scheme, Amnesty Scheme and Insurance Policy in agriculture sector along with the Holistic Agriculture Development programme.
He said that there is the need of modification in Marriage Assistance Scheme as there is time bar of minimum 30 days for the submission of applications for getting the benefit from this UT sector scheme, which includes assistance of Rs 50000 for the marriage of poor girls.
As finalization of many marriages take place within one month as per the rituals and various inevitable reasons. Many poor families missed the benefit due to 30 days’ time bar. Modification in this will ensure the benefit to every family.
Addressing a press conference here today, he said that UT administration needs to provide one more opportunity under Amnesty scheme for domestic consumers to the poor consumers for the payment of pending electricity fare. This will help the govt in revenue collection and at the other side benefit to the consumers as they will have to pay only the principal amount. He appealed to provide opportunity to pay the amount in at least in three instalments.
Jasvir said that Government also need to review the insurance policy in agriculture sector. Farmers suffer during floods, wind storm, insect attacks and disease to the various crops as with the climate change weather differs even at block level.
