DDC Poonch takes stock of post floods situation

POONCH, Sept 9: District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Mohammad Hussain Malik today convened a meeting of officers of Army and civil administration to take stock of the post-flood situation, review the action taken and plan the future course of action to restore the basic services that had been severely affected by the flash flood.
Jammu-Poonch Highway which had been closed due to bridge collapse and multiple landslides has been made functional since Monday and most of the other important intra-district roads, including Poonch-Mandi and Poonch-Mendhar via Bimber Gali, have also been made operational.
The DDC has given specific instructions to XEns of PWD and PMGSY to expedite the work on all the damaged roads in the district. Malik has also asked the Army to help the PWD to make the Sher-e-Kashmir and Darungali Nala Bridge functional.
Power supply which has been badly affected since last one week is being restored in most of the areas of the district especially Harni, Gursai, Nakka Manjeri of block Mendhar and Draba and adjoining areas of Surankote town in block Surankote. The DDC assured that power supply to Poonch town and the adjoining areas will be provided shortly. Water supply has also been restored except in areas where water pipes have been washed away. XEn, PHE informed that water tanker service is being provided in areas where restoration of water supply will take some more time.
AD, CAPD also informed that there is no shortage of essential commodities and K-oil, LPG and food items are being distributed to all the tehsils of the district. The CMO was directed to ensure that regular supply of life medicine is not disrupted at any cost.
