RAJOURI, June 26: District Development Commissioner, Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary took a comprehensive review of various developmental projects in Thanamandi with concerned District and Sectoral Officers.
He initiated some new road projects, inspected ongoing works and also reviewed the works initiated by different departments in pursuance to public meetings held at Mangota, Saaj, Banghai, Rajdhani and other places.
During his elaborate tour of the area, Dr Shahid also held public interactions at numerous locations to get apprised with developmental needs of the public and their grievances related to public service delivery.
At Shahdra, he initiated 3.5 km Shahdara-Kundan Kalai road to be completed at the estimated cost of Rs. 3.96 crore by Public Works Department. The road will provide connectivity to 6 villages thereby benefiting three thousand souls. The DDC also visited various parts of holy shrine and reviewed arrangements being made for devotees.
A comprehensive review of relief assistance, reconstruction and restoration work in flash flood affected areas was also held. Directions were given for earlier restoration of damaged irrigation kuhls, clearance of debris and stones from nallahs and strengthening of their embankments by construction of protection bundhs.
Earlier, the DDC inspected the work on under construction examination halls at GHSS, Saj and Behrote. The concerned were directed to pace up the work for timely completion of the halls.
The district administration has provided under innovation fund an amount of Rs 12 lakh for an examination hall, Rs 10 lakh for additional class room in addition to Rs 44 lakh already provided for Govt HSS, Saaj. Likewise, an examination hall worth Rs 12 lakh was initiated at GHSS Behrote.
