JAMMU, Sept 25: The Jammu Citizens’ Forum (JCF) has urged upon the State Governor, Satya Pal Malik to de-congest the Jammu city instead of congesting it further with wrong planning by the Urban planners.
In a press statement here today, the Forum president, R K Chadha said that while preparing project components for Jammu Smart City, the requirement of sufficient parking should be the main criteria. He said the Forum members including former VC JDA, RK Handa and former Chief Engineer Arun Sharma had prepared a complete plan for decongesting Jammu city, thus creating enormous parking space and the same was sent to the present Governor as well.
Chadha further said that common man fails to understand that the upper two stories of mega parking at Bus Stand is being converted into commercial shopping centre. He said the present Emergency Unit at GMC Jammu is so congested that even patients do not get proper space to be treated. This hospital do not have proper space for parking of vehicles and upon that planners are constructing 100 bedded Cancer Hospital in the same premises. The Government must look for some alternate site in Jammu for Cancer Hospital, he added.
