Death of Karunanidhi mourned

Jammu, Aug 8: Death of veteran Tamil leader and former five term Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Kalaignar Muthuvel Karunanidhi,  who passed away in Chennai on Tuesday, has been mourned.
Former Sadar-e-Riyasat Dr Karan Singh has expressed his deep sorrow at the passing away of M Karunanidhi and described the later a dominating factor not only in Tamil Nadu politics but on the national scene. “With his passing, a whole era of Tamil Nadu’s public life has ended,” he said while conveying his sympathy to the bereaved family and well wishers of the leader.
National Conference president Dr  Farooq Abdullah and vice president  Omar Abdullah have also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of M  Karunanidhi.
Dr  Farooq Abdullah rushed to  Chennai on Wednesday to pay homage to the veteran leader and  participated in his funeral ceremony.
In his message, Dr  Farooq Abdullah said Kalaignar’s career exemplified the virtues of selfless service, leadership and empathy for the downtrodden and that his role in the Dravidian movement was extraordinary and pivotal.
In his message,  Omar Abdullah said Kalaignar’s contributions to the country and Tamil Nadu would be remembered for generations to come and  in his demise the country had lost a veteran leader, a social justice crusader and an empathetic visionary.
