Decision on land use will bring employment opportunities: LEAD

JAMMU, Dec 18: The Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir Economic Growth & Development Dialogue (LEAD) today in its core group meeting said the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha deserves all credit for the landmark decision of the Administrative Council of approving the change of land use from agricultural to non-agricultural purposes. LEAD members said the much needed regulations now framed and approved by the UT Administration will facilitate many new investment opportunities in the region, new industries and services will bring in a large amount of new employment opportunities for the youth.
The Central Sector Scheme incentives for promotion of new investments has been already in place however the availability of land for new enterprises was always a matter of concern, with the new rules framed for change in land use will give a large impetus to the investment scenario in Jammu & Kashmir. Sunil Shah, Director mentioned that the sector teams formed by LEAD will now travel nationwide and promote and invite investors to set up large scale enterprises.
A delegation of LEAD members also met Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Principal Secretary Industries & Commerce Department for this much needed reform and other initiatives in promoting new investments. Thakur assured the members that the UT Government is working proactively and will resolve all issues.
