JAMMU, Aug 29: Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) has reiterated its demand to declare gazetted holiday on birth anniversary of last Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh.
The demand was raised in a meeting of the Sabha today at Marh, Jammu, under the chairmanship of Yuva Rajput Sabha president, Surinder Singh Gilli. The Sabha discussed the celebrations on occasion of birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji which falls on Sept 23.
Speakers in the meeting expressed resentment against the State Government for not declaring gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh. Gilli demanded declaration of Maharaja Hari Singh’s birthday as a State holiday and lambasted the BJP and Congress for not taking the issue up.
Gilli said that Sabha wondered if former chief minister Sheikh Abdullah’s birthday could be observed as a State holiday, why Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary, which falls on September 13, could not be observed.
Prominent Sabha members present in the meeting were Mukesh Singh, Mandeep Singh, Kaka Singh, Vikram Singh and others.
