KATHUA, July 14: A delegation of villagers from flood affected areas of Jandi, Doonga, Katal Brahmna, Sherpur and Samiyla Basi in Hiranagar tehsil today called on District Development Commissioner, Kathua and demanded that immediate steps be taken to protect the area from future floods.
The delegation that was led by Sarpanch Jawahar Lal Sharma said that recent floods created havoc in the area and every time people have to suffer a huge damage due to floods during Monsoons.
It said the callousness of the successive governments have been the main cause of the flood problem in the area and the Government should take preemptive measures in future to save the people from flood furry. They said had the authorities taken steps in advance the situation could have been saved from taking a critical turn.
