Delhi thrashes J&K by 8 wickets

BANGALORE, Nov 13: Formidable Delhi trounced J&K by 8 wickets in a rain hit shortened pre-quarterfinal match of 30 overs in the ongoing Womens Senior One Day Trophy at Alur Cricket Stadium, here today.
With this win, Delhi sealed berth in the quarterfinals, while J&K’s magnificent campaign ended in the tournament.
J&K lost the toss and were put into bat by Delhi skipper, Babita Negi in wet and gloomy weather conditions. Taking advantage of the toss, Delhi’s speedster, Soni Yadav took 2 important wickets of J&K- Rudrakshi Chib and Rubia Syed in very first over of the innings, without scoring.
However, Sarla Devi, Nadia Chowdhary, Bushra Ashraf and Bismah Hassan helped J&K to score 85 runs in stipulated 30 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Sarla top scored with 18 runs, while Nadia, Bushra and Bismah contributed 15, 13 and 12 runs respectively. Rifat Chowdhary and Ananaya Sharma made 7 and 5 runs respectively. For Delhi, Soni Yadav and Ayushi Soni took 2 wickets each, while Simran Dil Bahadur, Babita Negi and Parunika Sisodia claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Delhi chased the target by losing only 2 wickets in 25.4 overs and won the match by 8 wickets. Priya Punia top scored unbeaten 46 runs, while Pratika made valuable 23 runs and Ayushi Soni contributed unbeaten 12 runs to the total. For J&K, Sarla Devi and Nadia Chowdhary shared one wicket each.
