KATRA, May 17: Wrestler Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi lifted 19th Annual Bhamag Kesari title by defeating wrestler Tinku of Rohtak in Haryana in a very tough fight for the first malli bout that lasted for 20 minutes at Sardabbar, Kalsote (Moungri) in block and Tehsil Moungri of District Udhampur.
Dangal was organized by J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association in collaboration with J&K Police Department, J&K Tourism Department, J&K Bank and Bhamag Dangal Committee under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and President District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association, Sunil Badyal.
Ajay Nanda, Minister for Finance and Planning, Information Technology, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs was the chief guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the winners and runners-up wrestlers. Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma and Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India presided over the function. SSP Benam Tosh, Advocate Swantantar Dev Kotwal, Chairman Lord Shiva Parvati caves Shrine (Moungri) and Mela officer who is Tehsildar Moungri Amit Kumar Verma were the guests of honour.
In all, 31 bouts were played in the one day long historic dangal. Winner of 1st malli bout was cash awarded with Rs. 6,000 along with traditional Gurj (Gadda) and Patta by Minister Ajay Nanda, SSP Benam Tosh and Shiv Kumar Sharma while runner-up wrestler Tinku received Rs. 5,000 from Swatanter Dev Kotwal, Sunil Badyal and Hans Raj Thakur.
The second main bout was won by Talib of Mallerkotla who defeated Tinku Junior of Rohtak. 3rd bout was won by Akram of Chouadi, Jammu who defeated Niga of Gaziabad. 4th bout was won by Bobari of Sarore Jammu who defeated Sachin of Gaziabad.
Member of Bhamag Kesari Dangal Committee and Technical officials who helped for conduct of this one day wrestling event were advocate Swantanter Dev Kotwal, Hans Raj Thakur, Sunil Badyal, Om Parkash Verma, Virender Sharma, Tulinder Kumar, Laxhman Dass Katoch, Sunny and Murli Dhar (Munna).
