Delhi’s Sumit lifts 58th Aghar Jitoo Kesari title

KATRA, June 6: Wrestler, Sumit Gujjar of Guru Hanuman Akhara, Delhi lifted “58th Aghar Jitoo Kesari Dangal title 2023” by defeating wrestler Nadeem of Doda at village Aghar Jitto in Katra today.
Dangal was organized in the memory of great revolutionary farmer Baba Jitto and Bua Kouri during the three days historic Mela.
Dangal was organized by Aghar Jitoo Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Reasi, Abdul Sattar was the chief guest who distributed cash prizes among the wrestlers.
Senior vice president Indian Style Wrestling Association of India presided over the function along with Naib Tehsildar, Katra Ashok Kumar and Jugal Kishore Sharma (Bunty) prominent social activist and leading businessman of Delhi were also present as guests of honour in this occasion.
The bouts were officiated by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakari),Om Parkash Verma, Tulinder Kumar, Raj Singh,Pawan Kumar and Nazir Ahmid.
Winner of Ist malli bout wrestler Sumit was awarded with cash prize of Rs.15,000 along with traditional Gurj ( Gadda) and Patta by chief guest Abdul Sattar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Reasi; Shiv Kumar Sharma and Jugal Kishore Sharma( Bunty),while runner-up wrestler Nadeem got Rs.10,000.
Proceedings of the dangal were conducted by Gopal Krishan Komal and Anil Kumar of Reasi. Meanwhile, Mohan of Delhi defeated Shamsher of Talwar, Gurdev Singh of J&K Police of Devigarh defeated Bagga of Punjab and Balwan Singh of Sheep Breeding Department of Reasi defeated Vishal of Uttar Pradesh.
