JAMMU, Aug 19: Ashwamedh Cycling Expedition for the youth of Kishtwar district was flagged off by General Officer Commanding Delta Force from Kishtwar Helipad, today.
20 young and enthusiastic boys are participating in this unique and challenging expedition covering the area of Chenab valley and the challenging mountainous ridges of Jammu region traversing a total distance of 750 kms over the next 18 days.
The cyclists will be the ‘Messengers of Peace and Harmony’ in the region.
The Ashwamedh Cycling expedition has been conceptualized and designed with a view to expose these young men, in undertaking adventurism, challenges of unknown, exploring the flora and fauna of Chenab region and spreading the message of peace.
The successful completion of the entire expedition covering the interiors of Chenab valley, to include Gool, Reasi and further the treacherous and arduous region of Maniyarwala and Thanamandi area will not only develop a sense of confidence and achievement in these young men but will be a defining character building experience in them.
While speaking during the flagging-off ceremony, General Officer Commanding, Delta Force encouraged the local youth to take part in all such activities which are not only educative, but will definitely boost self confidence in them.
The expedition is scheduled to be flagged in after 18 days at Nagrota on September 5, 2015 coinciding with the raising day of Delta Force.
