SRINAGAR, Sept 28: The State High Court today in a contempt petition against Public Health Engineering Department directed for depositing Rs 10 lakh as pensionary benefits of petitioner with the Registry of High Court by October 5 and warned the concerned officials for action in case amount is not deposited within stipulated period.
Petitioner Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, who was working in PHE Department was denied pensionary benefits on the dispute of ‘handover takeover and on some recovery’ at the time of his retirement and he approached the court for redressal of his grievances.
Court directed the concerned to release his pensionary benefits as there is no reason for them to withhold the benefits of Sheikh. Denial of release of benefits compelled the petitioner to file contempt petition against PHE officials for flouting and disobeying the court orders.
“Meanwhile respondents shall deposit an amount of Rs 10 lakh with the Registry of this court by October 5. Failure of the respondents to deposit the requisite amount shall invite action against them”, directed Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey.
Justice Magrey further said that in case no positive development is made towards implementation of court orders and requisite amount is not deposited with the Registry then Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer of the Department shall remain present before the court.
