Deputy Director SAI visits Poonch for revival of Day Boarding Scheme

POONCH, Apr 19: Deputy Director Sports Authority of India (SAI) and In-charge Jammu and Kashmir, Ajit Singh visited Sports Stadium Poonch and interacted with hockey players and coaches of different games with an aim to revive SAI’s Day Boarding Scheme, here.
An exhibition match was played between Stadium Blue and Stadium Orange on the occasion.
SSP Poonch, Rajiv Pandey was the chief guest on the occasion, while prominent among others present were DySP HQ, Mohan Sharma, retired SAI Hockey coach, Sham Lal Sharma, Incharge Sports Stadium Poonch, Nirdosh Kumar, Narjeet Singh, Tanveer Dar, Ravinder Singh and Kewal Krishan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ajit Singh said that SAI aims at revival of the Day Boarding Scheme which was discontinued after the retirement of SAI coach Sham Lal Sharma.
He also threw light on the policy of SAI to raise sports infrastructure and other basic modalities for grooming young talent in the Country.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Poonch also ensured his support for promoting sports culture in the district through various sports activities of District Police Poonch, under Civic Action Programme.
Earlier, a Seminar and Sports Quiz was organized by the Deputy Director at Modern Public School Poonch, with an aim to enhance sports knowledge among the students.
Around 100 players/students participated in the seminar and trophies were distributed among the winners on the occasion.
