JAMMU, Sept 16: BJP Senior Leader and Deputy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma inaugurated JK UT Powerlifting and Dead Lifting Championship at Indoor Stadium, Bhagwati Nagar, here today.
In this Championship, around 200 players from 14 different districts of Jammu and Kashmir UT are participating.
Officials of the Association namely Ajay Sharma General Secretary, Rahul Sawhney Working President, Deepak Jyoti Joint Secretary, Adil Ashraf Khan and Sandeep Banmotra were also present during the opening ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma said that today at Indoor Sports Stadium, Bhagwati Nagar, Jammu, a Powerlifting and Dead lifting championship was organised by All J&K UT Powerlifting Association in affiliation to Powerlifting India, International, Asian and Commonwealth Powerlifting Federation.
She further said that the medalist of this championship will be selected for Senior National and Master Classics Powerlifting Championship to be held at Chandrapur and Senior National Powerlifting Championship at Bhalli in the month of October and December respectively.
She also said that more such initiative should be taken up to promote and encourage sports among the general public.
