‘Delhi takes 130 runs lead over J&K’

JAMMU, Aug 22: Despite J&K’s spin sensation Abid Mushtaq’s heroics with the ball, coupled with speedster Umar Nazir’s excellence, Delhi sailed on talented wicketkeeper batsman Anuj Rawat’s brilliance with the willow to take a sizeable lead of 130 runs over J&K in the ongoing 4-day match of All India Buchi Babu Invitational Cricket Tournament, being organised by Tamil Nadu Cricket Association at Salem Cricket Foundation Ground, Tamil Nadu.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 68/2, Delhi rode on a magnificent century by southpaw Anuj Rawat to score a formidable total of 386 runs, thus gaining a vital first innings lead of 130 runs. Anuj scored power-packed 160 runs off 222 balls, studded with 17 fours and 9 massive sixes, while Jonty Sidhu and Hrithik Shokeen contributed 65 and 56 runs to the total respectively.
For J&K, Abid Mushtaq took 7 important wickets by conceding 124 runs in his 33.5 overs, while speedster Umar Nazir bagged 3 wickets by giving away 47 runs in his 18 overs. Auqib Nabi and Vishal Kumar bowled wicket less 18 overs each. In reply, J&K were 4/0 in one over in their second innings at stumps on Day-2 of this 4-day match.
