Dewan, Kulgam MLA, CE Beacon call on Governor

Srinagar, May 30: Parvez Dewan, former Union Tourism Secretary, called on Governor N. N. Vohra, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
During their meeting, the Governor and Dewan discussed a range of issues relating to the promotion of well planned tourism in Jammu and Kashmir which has vast potential for generating employment and contributing to the economic development of the State.
The Governor urged Dewan to particularly advise the State Tourism Department in regard to the application of aesthetic concepts and architectural designs which are harmonious with the scenic beauty and natural environment of the State.
M.Y. Tarigami, MLA Kulgam also met Governor and discussed issues relating to the maintenance of peace and normalcy in the State and matters relating to the balanced development of Kulgam constituency.
Appreciating Tarigami’s various concerns, the Governor urged him to continue sustained efforts for promoting a peaceful environment which would enable the development and welfare of the people of his area and to particularly counsel parents and teachers to see that students were kept away from getting involved with law and order situations.
Meanwhile, Col. H.S. Maan, Officiating Chief Engineer, Project Beacon, called on Governor and briefed him about the to-date status of the different road projects being executed by the Project Beacon.
Governor stressed the timely completion of maintenance works of the Sonamarg-Neelgrath-Zojila axis keeping in view the increasing tourist arrivals and the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
While lauding the good work being done by the BRO in developing and maintaining the road network in the difficult and hilly terrain of Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor emphasized the crucial importance of the various construction works being completed strictly within the envisaged time schedules and also maintained satisfactorily.
