SRINAGAR, Mar 7: DFA Anantnag and DFA Budgam scripted wins by defeating DFA Ganderbal and DFA Srinagar by 4 goals to 1 and 4 goals to 2 respectively in the ongoing 1st phase of Annual Football Championship 2021-22, being played at Synthetic Turf TRC, here today.
The 1st match was played between DFA Anantnag and DFA Ganderbal. Both teams played exhibited quality Football and the full time ended in a goalless draw. The winner was decided by enforcing tiebreaker rule in which DFA Anantnag defeated DFA Ganderbal by 4 goals to 1.
In the 2nd match, DFA Srinagar and DFA Budgam locked horns with each other. In the beginning DFA Srinagar dominated for some time and scored a beautiful goal through Ayyan. DFA Budgam consolidated their position and took advantage of a counter attack and equalized the score through Mohamad Yaseen. Both the teams struggled hard to take the lead but couldn’t find the net till the final whistle was blown. The tiebreaker rule was also enforced to decide the winner wherein DFA Budgam defeated DFA Srinagar by 4 goals to 2.
Both the winning teams qualified for the final phase. The tournament is being organized by J&K Football Association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council.
