SRINAGAR, Mar 19: DFA Kupwara beat DFA Zone Pattan while DFA Zone Handwara trounced DFA Bandipora by 1-0 and 9-0 goals respectively in the ongoing 28th Annual Football Championship, played here today.
In the first match, DFA Kupwara defeated DFA Zone Pattan by 1-0 goal. Both the teams started with an aggressive note but were not able to penetrate the solid defence line of both the teams. In the last movement, DFA Zone Pattan succeeded in converting a brilliant pass and scored a goal, thus won the match by one goal against their opponent.
The second match was played between DFA Bandipora and DFA Zone Handwara. This match was proved to be a one sided affair in which DFA Bandipora defeated Zone Handwara by 9-0 goals. Ishfaq Ahmad of DFA Bandipora scored four goals.
The finals of North Edition and South Edition of the Championship will be played at TRC Srinagar and Sports Stadium Anantnag respectively tomorrow.
The tournament is being organised by JKFA and sponsored by JKSC.
