JAMMU, May 17: Officers of Drugs & Food Control Organization (DFCO) under the supervision of Controller, DFCO, J&K, carried out surprise / supervisory inspections of pharma dealers in many areas of Jammu district. During this drive retail / wholesale outlets of medicines were checked to ensure that they follow the norms / conditions of licenses as provided under law. It has been impressed upon them to sell medicines falling under schedule H & H1 (antibiotics/ Psychotropic substances) strictly as per the mandate of law and also desist from indulging in un-ethical trade practices. Instructions for providing proper storage arrangement have been issued on spot. Special emphasis has been laid on general cleanliness and hygiene of these medical establishments during these inspections. Directions for necessary reforms have been issued with compliance.
During the drive, licenses of more than 20 Retail/wholesale establishments were suspended who were found indulging in violation of norms and conditions of licenses. Further more than 60 samples were drawn from the market from different location for test / analysis to ensure that safe & quality medicines are available in the market to the end users.
All the Pharma dealers are instructed to strictly comply the rules & regulation in the larger interest of public health.
