DFCO inspects medical establishments, 125 drugs samples lifted for checking

JAMMU, Aug 22: The Drugs & Food Control Organization (DFCO) today carried out supervisory checks of medical shops and also audited the Drug Stores in public sector as a part of special drive to check and ensure that drugs of acceptable quality are available in the market/Government institutions for public consumption.
During the drive, 85 Government institutions and 243 market establishments were checked. 125 drug samples were lifted from all categories of drugs and sent for checking its strength, purity and also identifying the ingredients as per the label claim.
36 establishments which were found breaching certain provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics, Act were served show cause notices.
Form 15 (not to dispose of stores) was issued to M/s Cadila Healthcare, Channi Rama Jammu with respect to four products namely Sugamet MC 1000, Sugamet MC 500, Sugamet 500 and Sugamet 1000.
It was also observed that sale of certain food supplements namely Sayocal D3, Mfg by Zotha Healthcare, Gujarat, Oligocare, & Metabolis, Mfg by Meyer Organics Limited, Q10 Capsules Mfg by Axila Life sciences was being sold and manufactured without approval of competent authority. The Food Business Operators have been instructed to re-book these products to the principle.
