REASI, June 5: Dr Sayed Nadeem Hussain, DFO Reasi inaugurated the State Level Inter-District Wrestling Competition, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports in an impressive, colourful and well attended function, here today.
The Competition is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of its Director General, Navin Agarwal and under the supervision of Dr Swarn Singh Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nadeem welcomed all the participants from various districts and stressed on the simultaneous role of sports and studies in the life of a person and making healthy adjustment in life.
Mohd Rafiq Khan, DFO Mahore was the guest of honour on the occasion, while Shiv Kumar Sharma, president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association was the special guest.
Prominent among other personalities present on the occasion were captain Lehair Singh, veteran national wrester and coach, Sarpanch and Panchs of Aghar Ballian.
Two bouts were conducted during the inaugural function.
In 63 kg weight category, Moin Khan of Reasi got better of Ashraf Ali of Kathua to enter into the next round of the Competition, while in 69 kg, Surinder Singh of Jammu toppled Shiber Ahmed of Samba in an exciting contest.
The matches were officiated by Kulbir Singh, Basant Singh and Govind Singh.
