RAJOURI, Sept 2: The police has registered an FIR against some people who allegedly manhandled DFO Rajouri and some other staff members who had gone to clear the Forest land/ quarter grabbed by some people.
Reports said DFO Dr K Anand along with staff launched an operation and put the locks on three shops raised at Forest land and a department quarters allegedly grabbed by some people including an employee of the department namely Balak Ram. This employee who got the Forest Department quarter allotted on his name about two decades back, managed to get `Intkal’ of 10 marks Forest land and quarter in possession in the name of his wife by influencing Patwari and Naib Tehsildar concerned some time back. He also started raising shops on the Forest land located at prime location in the town.
The department approached Tehsildar Rajouri who cancelled the `Intkal’ but no action was taken against the then Revenue officials by the DC or ADC. Later, the accused party appealed before the DC who also announced decision in favour of Forest Department. And recently, the Tribunal decision also went against Balak Ram. In the meantime Balak Ram also sold some portion of this Government land and second party raised structure there.
Today when DFO along with staff went at the site to get the Forest land vacated, the relatives of the alleged land encroachers manhandled the DFO and his staff and also broke the locks put up by Forest Department on the shops. Later, the DFO and his staff lodged an FIR against the accused persons.
