SRINAGAR, June 8: With a view to improve the security system and ensure effective monitoring of activities of inmates round the clock at Central Jail Srinagar, 43 CCTV cameras have been installed which include 28 PTZ day and night cameras, 15 fixed day & night cameras. These cameras have been installed at strategic point in and around the Central Jail.
While inaugurating CCTV Control Room, the DGP Prisons, S P Vaid, said that the Control Room will facilitate effective surveillance and coordination. He added that the Prisons Department intends to incorporate technology into the prisons design to improve security & level of control and supervision.
These cameras are in addition to 30 cameras already installed.
Later, the DGP visited all the prisoners’ barracks and took stock of security and health care facilities available for the inmates. He also visited the jail kitchen and reformation centres.
The DGP Prisons gave on spot directions to the Superintendent Jail to further improve facilities in the interview room, so that the visitors don’t face any problems while visiting the inmates.
