GANDERBAL, Oct 20: Rajinder Singh Tara, the Director General of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), J&K, visited the Government College of Physical Education (GCOPE) in Gadoora, here to assess the sports infrastructure and ongoing developmental projects. Accompanied by the Executive Engineer of the J&K Sports Council and other senior officials, Tara conducted a comprehensive review of the college’s facilities.
During his visit, he inspected the 400-meter standard athletics track, which is nearing completion and expected to be ready within 15 days. He also assessed the newly initiated construction site for the Hockey Synthetic Track and the development of a modern football turf, receiving assurances of timely progress from the construction agency.
Tara expressed satisfaction with the recently completed Badminton Indoor Hall, emphasizing its importance for college students and local youth. He toured the boys’ hostel and reviewed renovation works on a portion of the college’s main building affected by a fire incident last year.
Highlighting the need for timely project completion, the DG urged the construction agency to expedite ongoing works and called on faculty to maintain high-quality standards. “Developing sports infrastructure is crucial for nurturing young talent,” he stated, reaffirming the commitment to improving facilities in the region.
