SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar today said the JKP has to bring innovative changes in its functioning to counter latest challenges of cyber crime and terrorism. He said with the changing strategy of criminals, the force has to adopt new methods of policing to tackle the hostile situations, besides delivering better services to the people.
Mr. Rajendra was addressing maiden police durbar at District Police Lines here today, which was attended by jawans and officers of districts of Srinagar and Budgam. He said that JKP, after tackling terrorism has emerged as one of the best forces and its sacrifices for the security of the people have been recognised at national and international forums.
Mr. Rajendra asked the cops to remain vigilant in future to thwart the designs of subversive elements as they would attempt to revitalise the dormant cells and create unrest in the State.
The DGP appreciated the jawans and officers for their dedicated efforts, ensuring maintenance of law & order and smooth conduct of Amarnath Yatra. Stressing for enhanced community policing and people friendly activities, the DGP said that the force has to imbibe spirit of public service and strengthen public coordination. He said that aggressive attitude of men in uniform creates gap in the relations which should be discouraged. Use of minimum force while dealing hostile situations should be our priority, said the DGP.
Mr. Rajendra said that performance of every member of the force is monitored at different levels. Brave and dedicated personnel, who exhibit extra ordinary in the field are encouraged and rewarded.
On the occasion, the DGP announced 25 out of turn promotions in different ranks of Central Kashmir Range to their next higher ranks. He handed over the orders to the beneficiaries on the spot. He disclosed that out of turn promotions are being given to the personnel on the recommendations of senior officers in recognition of their performance and are scrutinized at PHQ level by Police Establishment Board.
Earlier, the SSP Srinagar, Amit Kumar threw light on the functioning of district police.
The durbar was attended by IGP, (Kashmir Zone), SJM Gillani, DIG (SKR), G. H. Bhat, AIG (Personnel), Tahir Sajad, SSPs, Fayaz Ahmed and Mir Imtiyaz Hussain, SP Hqrs. Wasim Qadri, Dy.SP DAR, Feroz Qadri, SDPO Shaheed Gung, Yasir Qadri and other police officers.
