JAMMU, Nov 5: Director General of Police (DGP), Ashok Prasad inspected Police Headquarters and other moving police wings, which resumed functioning in the winter capital here this morning, following annual Darbar Move.
Mr. Prasad was received at PHQ lawns by senior police officers and was presented guard of honour by a contingent of armed police.
Accompanied by Additional Directors General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar, Dr. Ram Lubhaya and S. P. Vaid, the DGP inspected various sections of PHQ and enquired from the officials about the working of their branches.
Mr. Prasad also held a meeting with senior police officers at PHQ and discussed various matters related to the Police Organization. He enquired about the progress achieved on different fronts of policing in the State. He instructed the officers to maintain close rapport at all levels to maintain the law and order.
Urging the officers to work with greater zeal for achieving desired results in different areas of policing, Mr. Prasad said that major thrust should be laid on public service and all matters related to the common people should be settled on priority. He said that safety and security of the people is our main concern and effective measures and proper deployment should be made to ensure security of the people. While dealing with the law and order situation, it should be ensured that people do not face any inconvenience in meeting their day-to-day activities, said the DGP.
Later, the DGP visited other moving police offices, including Armed, Home Guard, CID, Security, Railways, Crime Headquarters and Police Housing Corporation. While interacting with the staff, Mr. Prasad stressed upon them to render their duties with zeal, enthusiasm and discipline.
During the inspection of various establishments, he discussed different matters with heads of those units and issued on the spot instructions for better working conditions. He asked the officers to ensure quick disposal of cases related to the welfare of officers and jawans to minimise their hardships.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGPs, V. K. Singh, Dilbag Singh, Owais Ahmed, Dr. B. Srinivas, A. K. Choudhary, H. K. Lohia, A. G. Mir, M. Sulaiman Salaria, Dr. K. K. Saini, Yoginder Koul, Alok Puri and Muneer Ahmed Khan, DIGs, T. Punchok, A. S. Bali, J. P. Singh, A. K. Atri, Johny William, R. P. Resutra, Shakeel Beig and other senior police officers.
Earlier, the DGP and other senior police officers visited the Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Head and laid wreath at the memorial.
On the occasion, he paid homage to the police martyrs who laid down their lives for the safety of the people and security of the State.
