UDHAMPUR, Apr 25: Director General of Police, Prisons, SP Vaid, reviewed security arrangements and evaluated reformatory programmes being run in District Jail Udhampur.
During the visit, DGP Prisons visited all prisoners’ barracks and interacted with inmates regarding facilities being provided in the jail.
DGP gave on the spot directions to the technical wing to execute minor repairs and upgrade the infrastructure to improve the living conditions in the prison.
Superintendent, District Jail Udhampur Hilal Ahmed Rather apprised DGP regarding vocational and educational programmes being run in the jail. Superintendent also informed DGP about the works completed under SRE.
DGP urged Superintendent to liaise with Technical Education and Social Welfare Departments for introducing skill based training programmes for female prisoners.
Later, DGP visited jail hospital and stressed upon the medical staff to provide medical care as per community standards to the ailing inmates.
He also visited the jail kitchen, warder residential lines and IGNOU special study centre.
DGP Prisons was accompanied by Dr MS Lone, DIG Prisons, Saba Shawl, Staff Officer to DGP Prisons, Sataya Narayan Singh, Commandant CRPF 187 Battalion Udhampur, etc.
