JAMMU, Dec 1: Young and promising middle-order batsman Dhruv Sharma scored a splendid half-century to salvage a sinking ship and guide Jammu and Kashmir to a modest total of 170 runs in 67 overs, while Dev took a 5-wicket haul in the ongoing U-16 boys Vijay Merchant Trophy against Uttarakhand at Sheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur today.
In reply, Uttarakhand were 48/2 in 23 overs at stumps on Day-1 today. Opener Rakshit Dalakoti was at the crease on 20, while Anshul Dhobal was unbeaten on one. Wicketkeeper Harshvardhan contributed 14 runs to the total.
Haadi Ibrahim and Mudasir Abdullah claimed one wicket each for J&K.
Earlier, batting first, J&K lost wickets at regular intervals and managed to score 170 runs in their first innings. Dhruv Sharma top scored with patient 73 runs off 168 balls, studded with 15 delectable boundaries, while skipper Shourya Manhas contributed 34 runs with 6 crispy fours. Irfan Ahmed and Shiva Thakur contributed 18 and 12 runs to the total respectively.
For Uttarakhand, Dev was the wrecker-in-chief who captured 5 important wickets by conceding 21 runs in his 13 overs, while Aditya Rawat, Chetan Singh, Rakshit Dalakoti and Anmol Singh shared one wicket each.
