JAMMU, Oct 16: District Information Centre (DIC), Rajouri, today organized a debate competition on ‘Disaster Management’ at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Kalakote.
Around 10 students participated in the competition and spoke at length on the subject. Principal, Sanjeev Suri presided over the event while Tehsildar Kalakote, Abdul Majid Tantray was the chief guest.
Nirbay Sharma of GHSS Kalakote, Udhav Sharma of Netaji Memorial High School, Kalakote and Sakhi Kohli of BSKH High School, Kalakote, were adjudged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
Consolation prizes were also distributed among all the participants.
While speaking on the occasion, chief guest appreciated the role of the Information Department in providing students a platform to express their views and exchange views on such important issue.
He said disaster management has become a priority in the present day world due to certain climatic and social reasons.
Among others present on the occasion were staff of the institution, Panchs, Sarpanchs, prominent citizens of the area and representatives of the Information Department.
