JAMMU, Oct 25: As part of the Union Territory Foundation Day, different programmes have been organised in different colleges of Jammu region here today.
Government Degree College (GDC) Khour conducted various competitions to celebrate UT Foundation Day. The essay writing competition was conducted by the department of Hindi and English. The painting Competition was conducted by the NSS wing of the college while Photography and Videography competition was organized by the department of history and NCC Unit of the college.
More than 100 students took part in the above mentioned competitions. In the painting competition Needhi Kumari of Semester-5 stood first while in the Essay writing competition Bhavana Sharma got first prize. The Photography competition was won by Shiv Kumar of Semester-5 and Nikhil Singh of Semester-1 got first prize in the Videography competition.
As part of UT Foundation Day celebrations, Literary and Cultural Committee of Government Degree College R.S. Pura organised an Essay Writing Competition and Painting Competition here today in the first phase under the patronage of Principal Dr. Rajni Bhagat and guidance of Dr. Neena Gupta Rohmetra, Convener Literary Committee and Dr. Anuradha, Convener Cultural Committee.
Gursimar Kour students of semester 3rd bagged 1st position in Essay writing competition, Harshdeep Singh of semester-I bagged 2nd position and Paramjeet of Semester-V bagged 3rd position. Lakshmi Narayan of semester-V bagged 1st position in Painting competition, Samita Sharma of Semester-V bagged 2nd position and Arti of semester-V bagged 3rd position. Gursimar Kour student of semester-III and Lakshmi Narayan of semester-V will represent the college at district level-stage-II competition.
Government SPMR College of Commerce celebrated Union Territory (UT) Foundation Day. In the series of activities, students also participated in an Essay Writing Competition in which they highlighted the major developments across J&K UT.
Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college said these kinds of activities in the college give students the opportunity to showcase their creativity and innovative ideas. In the competition, Muskaan of semester-3 got first prize and Adil and Kamaldeep received 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In the painting competition, the winners were Khushi Gupta (1st), Achyut (2nd) and Muskan got 3rd prize. In this competition, the students highlighted the major achievements like Smart City coming of Metro and other important projects undertaken by J&K Govt. In the videography competition, students prepared videos of college premises and smart city. The winners of the Videography competition were Adil, Ishika and Rasneet.
Meanwhile, Internal Quality Assurance Cell of GDC Marh, under the patronage of College Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul and under the aegis of Higher Education Department, organized two day activities to celebrate UT Foundation Day of Jammu & Kashmir. The event featured Essay writing competition, Photography competition and Painting & Videography competition.
The Principal highlighted the positive changes that have taken place since the creation of the UT. In Essay writing competition, Prerna of BA 5th semester secured first position while Sanjana Bhagat BA 5th Semester bagged second position and Shivali of BA 1st semester got third rank. In the Painting competition, Mishu Devi (BA 3rd Sem) secured first rank, followed by Sanjana Devi (BA 3rd Sem) with second position, while Randeep (B.Sc.3rd) and Kashish (B.A 3rd sem) shared the third place.
Pawaneet Kumar and Bobby Kumar of B.Sc. 3rd secured first and second rank, followed by Sudikshin of B.Sc.5th Semester third rank in the Photography Competition. In Videography competition, Diksha Devi of B.Sc. 3rd semester secured first rank, while Jeevan Kaith of B.Sc.1st semester and Lakhbir Singh of B A 5th Semester won second and third ranks, respectively. The event was organised and coordinated by the members of IQAC committee. A total of 50 students of BA/B.Sc/B.Com participated in these activities including all faculty members including Mohit Kalotra and Rachhpal. Certificates of Merit/ Appreciation/ participation were also distributed among the students.
