JAMMU, Apr 16: In the wake of countrywide lockdown triggered by COVID-19 pandemic, different organizations here today have demanded restoration of 4G internet services in J&K
J&K Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) activists, Dr. A.C Bhagat, Om Raj Bhalla and Kuldeep Kumar Rao in a meeting have urged the J&K government to immediately restore the 4G internet services in J&K UT.
The AAP activists said, in view of extension of lockdown, students of J&K are finding it uneasy to have facilities like digital classes as many poor students have no access to wifi.
“The online classes provided by the teachers and other informative websites like You Tube, Google books etc cannot be accessed with weak 2G internet services,” they maintained adding that restoration of 4G internet services is the only solution for giving justice to the students & people of J&K.
Meanwhile, Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) leader, Sunil Dimple has sent a memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor of J&K demanding restoration of 4G internet services.
In a handout Dimple said that J&K Police, Army and Cyber Security are fighting against anti-national activities if such activities take place using internet.
He also said that students of J&K are unable to study online as the coaching institutes have started online classes and 2G speed is not sufficient for online classes.
Demanding 4G internet services he said that telecom companies are charging tariff of 4G internet services in J&K while 2G services are provided here.
Also, in a handout National Joint Secretary & Spokesperson Youth wing of NCP, Rishi Kaul Kilam has demanded restoration of 4G internet services in J&K as “4G has become part and parcel in our day to day affairs.”
Hindustan Shiv Sena (HSS)’s president Vikrant Kapoor today urged the Government for restoration of 4G internet services in the Union Territory.
He said all the education institutions are closed since the Government announced lockdown to contain the COVID-19, the students preparing for different academic and competitive exams are facing lot of problems due to low internet speed. It is need of the hour to restore the 4G internet services as soon as possible.
He also appealed to public to follow the instructions issued by the Government and stay in their homes during the lockdown.
“It is very unfortunate that the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu had refused to give permission to our workers to distribute food items and other essential items among the needy persons who stranded in different places of the city,” he regretted and strongly condemned the arrogant attitude of the DC Jammu.
