DIG Jammu inaugurates State Games for disabled

JAMMU, Feb 14: Special Olympics Bharat J&K Chapter organised three days State games for disabled at Youth Hostel, Nagrota, here.
The sole motive of the Games is to explore their hidden talent through the medium of sports under MYAS in collaboration with SAI, Paralympics and association of deaf.
Special athletes from Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Udhmapur and Jammu districts, excelling in district events are participating in State Games.
Dy. Inspector General of Police  Ashkoor  Ahmed Wani inaugurated the Games in an impressive function.
In his inaugural address, the chief guest said that this initiative by SOB under MYAS deserves all commendations for providing wide range of opportunities to explore the hidden talent of persons with Disabilities through the medium of sports.
“It is my proud privilege that I am part of such a noble mission and I wish to remain with this movement to assist the persons with disabilities and the organiser,” he said.
A day will come when today’s winner will excel in national events. The Chief Guest offered floral tributes and also enlightened ceremonial lamp before founder special Olympus international Eunice Shriver Kennedy as a token of respect.
About 271 special athletes and 68 coaches participated in the event.
The events being conducted are Boccee, Badminton, Wheel Chair Race, Softball Throw, 100 mtr race, 50 mtr race, Zig-Zag Dribbling, Run and Kick and shooting.
