JAMMU, Jan 11: A deputation of Diploma Engineers under the banner of the Council of Engineers today met Minister for PHE, I&FC Department Sham Choudhary and submitted a memorandum of their demands to him.
The members during the meeting expressed their strong resentment about the recent notifying of 23 Diploma holder engineers (Civil) for promotion from JEs to AEs against the availability of about nearing 150 posts.
They apprised the minister that Government has misinterpreted the post position of AEs pertaining to Diploma cadre which were actually generated to redress the acute stagnation among the diploma engineering cadre, where hundreds of Diploma holders are not able to see the ray of hope for their promotion even after rendering 37-38 years of service.
The minister was apprised that it was after decades long great struggle, the erstwhile leadership of Diploma Engineers Association, has succeeded to apprise the State Government about acute stagnation prevailing in their cadre in the consequence of which State Government has formed a high level Establishment- cum- Selection Committee.
Kuldeep Singh, secretary general while explaining informed that hundreds of Diploma engineers are still at present stagnated to the extent of 34 years of service, and they are very eagerly waiting for their turn.
The Diploma engineers in their presentation have impressed upon not to temper with the posts earmarked for a stagnated diploma holder cadre so as to make them relieved of the stigma of stagnation and requested for release of complete posts in their favour as a practice in vogue in the department.
The Minister on listening to the deputation, assured that justice will be delivered and no post shall be allowed to deviate.
Prominent among those accompanying included V K Trikha, Sunil Sharma, SC Kerni, DS Jamwal, Romesh Sharma, Vikas Sharma,Vivek Kohli and Gopal Abrol.
