DIPR hosts symposium on ‘threat of drugs on mankind’

UDHAMPUR, Sept 14: The Department of Information and Public Relations, Cultural Wing Jammu in collaboration with District Information Center, Udhampur today organized a symposium contest on the topic “Drug addiction – a threat to mankind” here at Government Middle School Barrian.
Headmistress of the host school Rohni Gupta was the chief guest.
As many as 8 students of the institution participated in the contest and highlighted the harmful effects of Drug Addiction.
Daksh Jamwal of class 8th clinched first position while Anjali Devi of class 7th and Akshay Kumar of class 8th bagged 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
The chief guest hailed the efforts of Information Department for making students aware about the harmful effects of Drug addiction- a threat to mankind. He urged the department to organize more such programmes in the future.
Later, the chief guest gave away prizes and certificates to the participants of the contest.
Monika, Sheetal, and Neelam Kumari acted as judges while Senior Artist of Information Department Suresh Sharma conducted the proceeding of the programme.
Artists of Information Department presented theme based cultural items on the occasion.
Officials of Information Department Staff members and students were also present.
