International Mountain Day-2020 concludes

GULMARG, Dec 12: Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir today organized Snow Cycling and Ski Mountaineering events at Gulmarg here as part of the International Mountain Day-2020 celebrations.
Gulmarg having received fresh snowfall overnight presented a breathtaking view with a large number of Skiers and Cyclists in colorful gear along with hundreds of tourists seen enjoying their time.
Everester and prestigious Tenzing Norgay Adventure Award winner, Aparna Kumar (IPS), who was the chief guest on the occasion praised J&K Tourism for its efforts to mark the International Mountain Day-2020 with great fanfare. She said it was overwhelming to see a large number of boys and girls participating in the Adventure activities being organized by the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir to mark the occasion. ” Youth of J&K have got huge potential and it was on full display during the last two days,” Kumar observed.
Praising the beauty and Ski facilities of Gulmarg, Aparna Kumar implored the youth of the country to come and take best advantage of the skiing facilities available here. “Nobody in the country should miss such adventure and view,” she said urging the countrymen to visit Kashmir and enjoy its beauty, splendid snow and hospitality.
Aparna Kumar also visited the Ski Shop of the Tourism Department at Gulmarg and was extremely pleased to see the variety of the Ski equipment available for Skiers and tourists.
She thanked the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir for inviting her to Kashmir and giving her an opportunity to be part of such wonderful International Mountain Day-2020 celebrations.
Director, Tourism Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Wani, Joint Director Tourism, Tabassum Kamili, Deputy Director, Tourism (Recreation) Ideel Saleem, Deputy Director, Tourism (Registration), Ahsan-ul-Haq Chishti, Assistant Director, Tourism Gulmarg, Dr Javid-ur- Rehman, Superintendent, Indian Institute of Skiing & Mountaineering, Ali Mohammad Bhat, Tourist Officer, (Adventure) Mudasir Mushtaq, President, Adventure Tour Operators of Kashmir (ATOAK), Rauf Tramboo, and other Adventure lovers and tourists were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, around 30 Skiers of the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering, Gulmarg gave a demonstration of various Skiing types before the chief guest and the participants.
The ‘2-Day International Mountain Day-2020’ celebrations concluded with the distribution of awards & certificates among winners and the participants here at the historic Gulmarg Golf Club.
