KATHUA, Nov 20: Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra along with Ravinder Kumar, Managing Director, SIDCO, today convened a meeting of various industrial associations of district Kathua and listened to their grievances.
During the meeting, a number of issues like continuance of toll tax exemption in J&K, problem regarding registration of lease deeds, delay in GST reimbursement and financial losses (due to present turmoil) to industrial units in Kathua who have sold finished products in Kashmir valley were raised by the industrialists.
The industrialists also demanded exemption from toll tax on import of plant and machinery after provisional registration without lease deed. They suggested sharing of import/export data of commodities with the Director Industries so that manufacturing can be done in J&K only.
The Director Industries and Commerce assured the industrialists to take up their issues with concerned authorities. She stressed on ease of doing business and adopting best practices for promoting industries in J&K.
She advised all the unit holders/stake holders who commenced the commercial date of production from 15-06-2017 but could not get themselves registered on the IDS portal under the Scheme IDS-2017 upto 31-10-2018, to apply for registration on the IDS portal and make themselves eligible for incentives as the portal is now accepting applications for registrations.
Regarding delay in GST reimbursement, Anoo Malhotra advised the industrialists to submit representation with list of specific cases which have not been refund so that the matter may be taken up with concerned authorities.
Later, both Director Industries and MD SIDCO took up land related issues of Industries Department with Om Parkesh Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua.
Thereafter, Director Industries inspected different industrial units viz. M/s Nicer Paper Mill, IID Center Govindsar Kathua, M/s Godrej Consumer Products Private Limited, Unit-II, SICOP Industrial Estate Kathua and stressed upon the industrialists to promote local employment in industries in order to achieve the socio-economic development of the region.
