KATHUA, Sept 5: Director, Social Welfare Department, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today visited Hiranagar and reviewed the functioning of the department there.
He visited office of the Tehsil Social Welfare Officer and enquired about the progress of cases of the pensioners who have been covered under Integrated Social Security Scheme and National Social Assistance Progr-amme. He was told that over three thousand cases of the pensioners are pending in tehsil Hiranagar who are awaiting sanction by the Department.
The Director underlined the need for giving priority to those prospective pensioners who have applied earlier or who are above 70 years of age.
Tehsil Social Welfare Officers of Hiranagar and Kathua and other staff member were also present on the occasion.
