UDHAMPUR, Oct 7: Brig (Retd) Harcharan Singh, Director Rajya Sainik Board, today called on vice president of the Rajya Sainik Board, Lt Gen DS Hooda, Army Commander Northern Command.
Brig Singh briefed the Lt Gen Hooda on various activities of the Rajya Sainik Board. The General was informed that after taking over the charge he had briefed the Governor and Principal Secretary Home (J&K) on various activities of Rajya Sainik Board (J&K).
Brig Singh informed that he has already carried out visit of areas of Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Doda and Udhampur and during the visits he held meetings with various functionaries of State Government and senior Army officials. He also met the Defence Pension Dispersing Officer (DPDO), Udhampur Shukal Chopra and discussed issues related to pension of the veterans and war widows/widows. He said that the visit to Rajouri and Poonch will be carried out next.week.
Army Commander was informed on positive response extended from the officials of Ministry of Defence, State Government and the Army. Lt Gen Hooda appreciated the close liaison and jointmanship of all agencies while working for welfare of Ex-servicemen (ESM) and their wards and widows. Director informed that on priority a software is being developed to help computerise the data bank of Ex-servicemen (ESM). Army Commander assured assistance from the Army for reaching out to the ESM in remote areas for speedy executions of the computerise process of data bank of the veterans and war widows. Ex-servicemen (ESM) Cell website of Army headquarters will also be made use of to contact and progress cases “Online” with PCDA and record office etc.
