Jammu, Sept 14: ‘Display Your Talent 2018-19’ commenced today at the University of Jammu. ‘Display Your Talent’ is an annual feature of the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu in which students from the affiliated degree colleges and university departments participate in 33 different competitions of music, dance, literary, fine-arts and theatrical activities.
Prof. M K Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu was the chief guest at the inaugural function.
The inaugural programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp by the dignitaries.
Prof. M K Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu stated with gladness that ‘Display Your Talent’ is a unique cultural extravaganza which is organised annually by the University of Jammu.
He welcomed all the participants to this great platform which has provided inspiration to hundreds of its alumni who have brought laurels for the University and State as well which is testified with the fact that all the alumni of ‘Display Your Talent’ cherish their association with it.
Prof. Parmeshwari Sharma, Dean Students Welfare, in her welcome address expressed her gladness over the notable participation of the students this year. She wished good luck to the participants for the successful completion of this mega event.
Prof. S.K. Pandita, Chairman Campus Culture Committee apprised the audience about the brief history of ‘Display Your Talent’.
Prof. Satya Paul, Co-Chairman Campus Cultural Committee presented the vote of thanks.
The events of Western Singing were conducted on the first day of Display Your Talent. In Western Vocal (Solo), Himani Vaid from GCW, Parade stood first and Shumalini from The Business School stood second. The third position was shared by Sachin from SPMR College of Commerce and Nishant Shafi from Institute of Music and Fine Arts. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Shrey Bakshi from The Law School and Aman Sagotra from Dogra Law College. Dr. Garima Gupta was the Teacher In-Charge of the event.
In Western Vocal (Group), the team of GCW Parade stood first, and the teams of The Business School, JU and SPMR College of Commerce stood second and third respectively. Ajay Chourasia, Rajiv Bhahia and Amarjeet Singh were the judges for both the events, Dr. Sadaf Shah was the Teacher In-Charge.
The events were coordinated by Dr. B.K. Bajaj (Associate Dean Students Welfare), Dr. Anil Gupta (Assistant Dean SW), Dr. Garima Gupta (Assistant Dean SW), Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer) and Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor).
The events were witnessed by the members of Campus Cultural Committee, teachers, students, scholars of the University of Jammu and prominent members of the civil society.
Rajat Salgotra, Sunny Singh, Navleen Kour, Mehak Jain, Bharti Slathia, Diksha Sharma, Richa Sharma, Nedhi Kumari, Sonia Singh, Sachin Gupta, Anup Singh, Parvin Kumar, Gauri Thakur, Teghdar Kour, and Saloni Verma did the hall management. The sound was looked after by Kulbhushan Thakur and Arif Paul.
