KATHUA, July 22: The district administration Kathua has restored a pond which was encroached by land mafia in the town and developed it for the betterment of the public.
According to District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Rohit Khajuria three months back this pond in the Revenue record was non existent on the ground. It was totally filled with malba and encroached. A building material store was existing there, he added.
Khajuria said despite lot of opposition encroachment was removed and restoration work was taken up in hand pitching work is almost complete around the pond. Now fencing and beautification work will be taken up, he added.
A small park will be established with landscaping around the pond which is situated on the College road Kathua, DC added.
He said the pond will be cleaned and then fenced from all sides to give a better look and to save it from encroachers in future.
