JAMMU, Dec 25: Jammu District Athletics Championship 2023-24 concluded here today which was organized by Jammu District Athletics Association under the aegis of J&K Armature Athletics Association, J&K Sports Council, J&K Olympic Association in collaboration with Directorate of Sports & Physical Education University of Jammu at Synthetic Athletics Track University of Jammu.
The championship was held under-14, 16, 18 and under-20 open categories for both boys & girls where about 200 athletes of different schools and institutions of Jammu district participated.
Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Directorate of Sports & Physical Education University of Jammu was the Chief Guest and SSP Shaheen Wahid, Harinder Pal Singh were the Guest of Honours, Ravinder Singh (Babbi), Senior Vice president J&K Athletics Association, Varinder Kour (President) & Vinod k Bhatia (General Secretary) who awarded the winners certificate and medals in presence of Seema Kharyal, Jaissica Kour and Mukesh Sharma.
Championship was conducted by expert panel of coaches Chamel Singh, Gurcharan Singh, Harvinder Singh, Gurbachan Singh, Amardeep Singh Narinder Singh, Monika Chalotra, Mandeep Kour, Bhushan Kumar, Pankaj Kumar, Nitin Saini, Sahil Sharma & Aryaaveer Singh.
Results in under-14; 60 (MTR) boys Yuvraj Singh, 600 (MTR) Boys Summar Choudhary, , 60 (MTR) Girls, Bhumika Jamwal, 600 (MTR) Girls Aradhya Gupta. In U-16, 60 (MTR) Boys, Jaskirit Singh and 60 (MTR Girls) Akshara Sharma clinched the top positions.
Meanwhile, Simar Kaur clinched a gold medal in the under-14 long jump category at the athletics championship.
