District Athletics Meet declared open

UDHAMPUR, Dec 13: District Boys and Girls Athletic Meet, organized by District Athletic Association under the aegis of J&K Amateur Athletic Association and J&K Sports Council was declared open by Dr Vinod Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police at DPL as chief guest, here today.
Swarn Singh, District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Udhampur and Shahid Naim, DySP were the guests of honour.
Earlier, Sunil Sharma, president District Association welcomed all the participants and distinguished guests, while the chief guest in his address congratulated the Association for organizing such a remarkable event and advised the players to participate after observing all sportsmanship.
A total of 590 athletes from every nook and corner of the district participated in the meet.
In U/16 boys (800m), Aditya Sharma -1st, Pawan Kumar -2nd and Varun Kumar-3rd, while in boys (400m), Aniket Katoch-1st, Vinayak Basotra-2nd and Tarun Sharma-3rd, in U/14 boys (600m), Babloo Kumar-1st, Arya Jamwal-2nd and Rakesh Kumar-3rd, in girls (100m), Tabsum-1st, Rachna Devi-2nd and Chahat Sharma-3rd, in boys (100m), Sumitpal Singh-1st, Aaryan Jamwal-2nd and Rohan Ahmed-3rd, in girls (100m), Roshni-1st, Ronak Mahajan-2nd and Shameena Begum-3rd.
In U/18 boys (100 m), Anish Sathotra-1st, Anuj Raja-2nd and Sahil Kumar-3rd, in U/16 girls (300m), Tabsum-1st, Mahak-2nd and Naseem-3rd, in U/16 boys long Jump, Saviter Singh (15’10”)-1st, Tanveer Ahmed (14’9″)-2nd and Aditya Sharma (13’7″)-3rd, in U/16 girls, long jump, Nazia (10’4″)-1st, Diksha Devi (10″)-2nd, and Rudrakshi (8’7″)-3rd, in U/14 girls, Ruksana (9’4″)-1st, Mahi Rajput (9″)-2nd and Khushi Sharma (8′)-3rd and in U/14 boys, Ansh Verma (13;10″)-1st, Rehan Ahmed (13’6″)-2nd and Bablu Kumar (13″)-3rd.
Bhim Sein (PEL), Sanjay Sharma (PEM), Raj Kumar Gupta (PEM), Naveen Sharma (PEM), Raj Kumar Dogra (PEM), Raman Gupta (PET), Pushp Kumar, Suresh Sharma, Sourav Pandit, Jyotika Sharma and Ranjeet Singh were the officials of the championship.
Amit Sharma, general secretary of the District Association conducted the proceedings of the event.
