SRINAGAR, Sept 13: District Pulwama and Shopian Carrom Association, organised by District Pulwama and Shopian Carrom Championship under the auspices of J&K Carrom Association, concluded at Indoor Sports Complex Rajpora, Pulwama for junior and senior categories in both boys & girl’s and men & women, here today.
Around 110 players participated in this championship from Schools and Colleges of both the districts.
Station House Officer, Zaffar Iqbal distributed the prizes among the winners as chief guest, while Ghulam Rasool Khanday, Manger Indoor Stadium Rajpora Pulwama and Arif Sultan secretary J&K Carrom Association were the guests present during the closing ceremony function of the event.
The secretary of the Association thanked J&K Sports Council for providing all the basic requirements to conduct this tournament successfully. The UT level Carrom Championship will be held at the end of this month, followed by 50th Senior National Carrom Championship, which will be held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium New Delhi from 7th to 11th November 2022 in which we are going to participate with our best players of the UT.
In junior boys, Sheikh Salim, Zubair and Uzair bagged top three medals respectively, while in junior girls, Iffat, Syed Horia and Iqra Jan clinched top three positions respectively and in senior men, first three places were secured by Farhan, Mufti Taha and Owais Ahmad respectively.
In senior women, top three positions were bagged by Shobi Jan, Beauty and Aurfee respectively.
Mehak Nabi senior player presented vote of thanks to the chief guest Zaffar Iqbal and other dignitaries.
