SAMBA, Oct 12: Samba District Chess Championship, organized by District Chess Association with the support of All J&K Chess Association under the banner of J&K Sports Council, concluded at Shishu Niketan School, here today.
Chief patron of District Chess Association Jangbir Singh was chief guest on the occasion who declared open the event. More than 70 players in boys and girls categories participated in the event.
In open category, Nikhil Kumar won Gold Medal, while Raghunandan got Silver and Iklavya secured Bronze medal, besides in sub junior category, Abhimanyu Slathia won Gold medal, while Kundan Lal clinched Silver medal and Arun Singh won Bronze medal.
In the women’s category, Siya Sambyal won the Gold medal, while Anshika Rajput and Damini Sambyal secured Silver and Bronze medals respectively.
All the matches were conducted as per FIDE laws of Chess. Arvindu Sharma conducted all the matches with the guidance of Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association.
