UDHAMPUR, Oct 28: As many as 70 fencers participated in 2-day 12th District Udhampur Fencing Championship, organized by the District Fencing Association under the aegis of Adhoc Committee of J&K Amateur Fencing Association in collaboration J&K Sports Council, her today.
The championship was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib and Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Syed Khan on Wednesday under various age groups for men and women at Indoor Hall, Subhash Stadium, and Udhampur which concluded today.
SS Yadav, 2 I-C, 137 Battalion CRPF Udhampur was the chief guest while ACD Mushtaq Choudhary was the guest of honour and social activist Swarn Singh Rathore, SHO Women Cell Isha Mahajan, Councillor Preeti Khajuria were among the special guests.
The bouts were held under the technical supervision of (retired) Col Balwant Singh (president) and international fencers inlcuding Mohammad Tariq, Rajan Prasher & Surbhi Anthal.
In under-10 boys sabre, Trinabh and Aagman secured top two medals respectively and bronze medals were secured by Mohd Aahan & Prithvi Raj Sarkar, whereas in under-12 boys foil, Avansh and Rohit won gold and silver, while Kartvaya and Rithvik clinched silver medals and in boys sabre, gold and silver medals went to Vansh and Arindham Ravi respectively and bronze medals were clinched by Khaniya & Jyant, besides in girls foil, top three medals were secured by Aradhya, Rimsha & Anvi respectively, while in girls sabre, Mahi and Tejasvi won top two medals and bronze medals were clinched by Anishka & Divyanshika.
In under -14 boys sabre, Rishav & Saras bagged gold and silver, while bronze medals were clinched by Kartika & Aditya, whereas in boys foil, Manjoot and Rohan won top two medals, while bronze medals were secured by Akhil & Shubham and in boys epee, Shourya and Suryan won gold and silver, while Vansh and Keshav clinched bronze medals, besides in girls foil, Manasvi, Deepika & Kushali clinched top three medals respectively, while in under-17 girls foil, Diksha, Bipasha & Vanshika bagged top three medals and in girls sabre, Samarleen and Ragini won gold and silver, while Aditi and Khushi bagged bronze medals.
In under-17 boys foil, Sahil & Ashish won top two medals and Rampal & Saksham won bronze medals, while boys sabre, Aditya, Rohit & Adarsh clinched top three medals respectively and in epee boys, Aryan & Rohit won gold and silver and bronze medals were secured by Shubham & Tarun, besides in under-19 foil boys, Rahul and Ramandeep bagged top two medals, while bronze medals were clinched by Shivdeep and Danish and senior epee boys, Ramneek & Akshay won gold & silver while Vishal & Ritesh clinched bronze medals, moreover in senior girls sabre, Pragati Mahajan and Esha Sharma won gold and silver medals.
