JAMMU, Dec 29: The District Jammu Gymnastics Championships for Boys and Girls, featuring Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Aerobic Gymnastics concluded at the Gymnastics Academy, MA Stadium, here today. The two-day Championship saw participation from around 150 gymnasts from various age groups, who showcased exceptional skills and determination to secure medals.
The event was graced by Deepak Gupta, President of the Traders Federation Warehouse Nehru Market, Jammu, as the chief guest. During the prize distribution ceremony, Gupta praised the organizers for conducting the championship in a commendable manner and congratulated all the position holders for their remarkable performances.
In the Artistic Gymnastics category, Zorawar secured the first position in the Under 8 Boys category, followed by Mahir and Ibadat who clinched the second and third positions, respectively. In the Under 8 Girls category, Divyanshi stood first, while Nivanshi and Giya Iqbal Singh Sethi finished second and third. In the Under 10 Boys, Ashiswa Proch bagged the first position, followed by Rohinya Proch in second, and Avikam & Advier Gill in third. In the Under 10 Girls, Meera took first place, Shivanya was second, and Harshita & Ekam Bajwra secured third. In the Under 12 Boys Floor Exercise, Trishisva emerged victorious, while Veerbhadra Chib and Partik finished second and third, respectively.
In the Vault competition for the Under 12 Boys, Veerbhadra Chib claimed first, Partik second and Trishisva third. In the Under 12 Girls category, Anubhooti clinched first place in the Floor Exercise, while Shivanshi and Ridha Malik finished second and third. In the Beam event, Manya took first, Shivanshi was second, and Aliya was third. In the Under 14 Boys, Kavya won the Floor Exercise event and was followed by Lakshay Mehra in second and Krishna Mehra in third. Kavya also secured the first place in the Vault event, with Krishna Mehra and Lakshay Mehra in second and third. In the Under 14 Girls, Rivka claimed the first place in the Floor Exercise, while Sadhya and Tavleen were second and third. In the Beam event for the Under 14 Girls, Rivka was first, Somya was second and Sadhya took third.
The Aerobic Gymnastics competitions were also held and a team was selected to represent Jammu & Kashmir at the upcoming National Aerobic Gymnastics Championships next month. The event was officiated by Kamal Singh, Manvinder Singh, Honey Mehra, Seema Mehra, Parul Mehra, and Sahil Sahi, under the overall supervision of S.P. Singh. Key dignitaries such as Baljinder Pal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer of the J&K Sports Council, Anil Khajuria, and Tejinder Singh, office bearers of the Gymnastics Association of J&K, were also present to encourage and support the athletes.
Er. Kiran Wattal, Vice President of the Gymnastics Federation of India (GFI) and President of the Gymnastics Association of J&K, expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for his unwavering support of sports development in Jammu and Kashmir. He acknowledged the crucial role of improved sports infrastructure and the timely support from Commissioner/ Secretary YS&S and the Secretary of the Sports Council.
