KUPWARA, Sept 20: The District Kupwara Judo Championship saw an enthusiastic turnout as over 100 participants from various schools and clubs competed today at the Indoor Sports Hall, Handwara. Organized by the District Kupwara Judo Association under the aegis of the Judo Association Jammu & Kashmir and the J&K Sports Council, the event featured sub-junior, junior and senior boys and girls across multiple weight categories.
The championship was inaugurated by Yawar Khaliq Buland, who served as the guest of honour and technical official. Zahoor Ahmad Lone, Manager of the Indoor Sports Hall, was the Chief Guest of the event.
The results were Sub-Junior Boys: Below 25 kg: Gold – Zunnorain Rizwan, Silver – Sheikh Humayun. Below 30 kg: Gold – Dayim Aijaz, Silver – Osama bin Imtiyaz, Bronze – Amaan Zahoor. Below 35 kg: Gold – Umair Mushtaq, Silver – Haris Zahoor, Bronze – Adnan Ali. Below 40 kg: Gold – Tabish Javaid, Silver – Usman Ashraf, Bronze – Hamas Ashraf. Below 45 kg: Gold – Suhaib Shabir, Silver – Syed Muzamil, Bronze – Mohd Jibran. Below 50 kg: Gold – Danish Khursheed, Silver – Sibnaan Azaad, Bronze – Abrar Manzoor. Below 55 kg: Gold – Mueen ul Islam, Silver – Aafaq Farooq, Bronze – Mehrab Shabir. Above 55 kg: Gold – Numan Hilal, Silver – Asrar Ahmad, Bronze – Noor ul Haq. Sub-Junior Girls: Below 36 kg: Gold – Tabish Jan, Silver – Azra Manzoor, Bronze – Irtiqa Manzoor. Below 40 kg: Gold – Afreen Afzal, Silver – Aabroo Jan, Bronze – Ifra Showkat, 2nd Bronze – Aalima Manzoor. Below 44 kg: Gold – Infa Rahman, Silver – Anjum Khaliq, Bronze – Ifra Latif, 2nd Bronze – Aiman. Below 48 kg: Gold – Rabia Hilal, Silver – Shaista Manzoor, Bronze – Mehvish, 2nd Bronze – Muntaha. Below 44 kg: Gold – Farhat Bashir, Silver – Souliha Altaf and Bronze – Samia Qureshi.
The event concluded with winners being awarded medals and certificates in recognition of their achievements.
