KARGIL, Jan 18 : Executive Councilor (EC) for Social Welfare, Aga Syed Hassan Arman inaugurated District Level Ice Hockey Tournament, Ladakh Winter Games under Khelo India 2021 at Ice Hockey Rink Biamathang here today where he was the chief guest.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil Tsering Motup, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma, Principal IISM Gulmarg Colonel J.S Dhillon, Zonal Physical Education Officer Tai-Suru Mohammad Ishaq, Zonal Physical Education Officer Shargole Mohammad Sadiq, representatives of Ladakh Olympics Association Kargil besides officers and officials of Youth Services and Sports Department Kargil were present on the occasion.
On the inaugural ceremony, first match in men’s category was played between Drass and Chiktan which was won by Drass by 2-0 goals while second match was played between Shargole and Kargil which was won by Shargole by 7-0 goals. In women’s category one match was played between Chiktan and Kargil which was won by Kargil by 2-1 goals.
Speaking on the occasion, EC Syed Hassan Arman congratulated the Department of Youth Services and Sports Kargil for successfully organizing the Zonal Level Ice Hockey Tournament in various block of Kargil district. He also congratulated the participating teams for qualifying for the District Level tournament by winning matches from their respective zones. He hoped that the players will excel in this game and bring laurels to the district in particular and Ladakh UT in general.
Terming youths as a valuable asset of the society, EC Syed Hassan Arman expressed happiness over their active participation in the Ice Hockey games in good numbers. He stressed on youths to continue their participation in all activities to showcase their hidden talent and to take full benefit of the platforms that the department is providing them with.
EC Syed Hassan Arman said that LAHDC Kargil is committed to provide every possible support required by the Youth Services and Sports Department to promote Ice Hockey in the district. He also assured to address the genuine demands put forth by the DYSSO Kargil including settlement of land issue which has already been allotted to the Youth Services and Sports Department for the up-gradation of infrastructure and other required facilities at existing Ice Hockey Rink Kargil.
DYSSO Kargil Muhammad Hussain Rehnuma said that a total number of 7 teams are participating in this tournament which includes 4 men and 3 women ice hockey teams consisting of 112 players including coaches. He said that the participating teams have qualified for this tournament after winning the zonal level Ice Hockey matches from their respective zones which concluded few days back.
He further said that from the District Level Tournament, one each of men and women Ice Hockey winner teams will get opportunity to play in the UT Level Ice Hockey Tournament.
