District Level Inter School girls’ competitions get underway

JAMMU, Apr 24: District Level Inter School competitions of Under-14 and 17 years girls in the disciplines of Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carrom, Speedball and Kick Boxing got underway at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of its Director General, Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman and under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director YS & Sports. Chanchal Kour, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jammu is the Organizing Secretary.
In all, 386 student players in both the age categories of various institutions of District Jammu are taking part in different sports events.
DG Sports interacted with the players on the occasion and wished them good luck.
In Chess Under-14 Girls 1st Round, APS Miran Sahib beat St Xavier Barnai by 3-1 points, Heritage Public School defeated BSF Paloura by 4-0 points, Model Academy drubbed Shiksha Niketan by 4-0 points and MHAC Nagbani trounced Anuradha Mission by 4-0 points.
In Carrom Under-14 Girls quarterfinal Singles, Sukrita of Anuradha Mission got the better of Himanaya of Model Academy, Vidhi of St Xavier beat Ritika Koul of BSF Paloura, Ambika of SOS Jammu beat Priya Devi of GHS Kanachak and Akriti of GMS Gorkha Nagar outplayed Jasjeet of Carmel Convent, while in Doubles, Carmel convent defeated St. Xavier, SOS Jammu beat DBN Amar Villa, Jammu Sanskriti School prevailed over Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nagar and GMS Gorkha Nagar beat GHS Kanachak.
In Carrom Under-17 Girls Quarterfinal Singles, Govt. Girls HS Sohanjana beat St. Xavier Barnai, GHS Domana thrashed SNS Vidya Mandir Jammu, SOS Jammu beat DBN Amar Villa and Carmel Convent drubbed Jammu Sanskriti School, while in Doubles, Govt Girls HS Sohanjana defeated GHS Kanachak, GHS Bishnah beat SNS Vidya Mandir, Carmel Convent trounced SOS Jammu and Model Academy beat BSF Paloura.
The matches were officiated by the penal of experts of the Department of Youth Services & Sports, District Jammu.
KICK BOXING: UNDER-14: 28 Kg: Ruplin of Jammu Sanskriti, Ist and Isha of Jammu Sanskriti, 2nd. 42 kg: Sonalika of Jammu Sanskriti, Ist. 46 kg: Tania of Shiksha Niketan, Ist. UNDER-17: 35 kg: Amandeep Kour of Jammu Sanskriti, Ist and Shivani Bhagat of Mannik Public School, 2nd. 40 kg: Muskan Sharma of Manik Public School, Ist and Shalini of Jammu Sanskriti, 2nd.
SPEED BALL: Under-14: Solo: Chaman Devi of GHS Raipur Satwari, 1st and Akriti Gupta of SD Tara Puri, 2nd. Doubles: Meetali and Siya of St. Xavier , Ist; Avneet and Taniya of Shiksha Niketan School, 2nd. Relay: Government Girls HS Raipur Satwari, Ist and SD Tara Puri School, 2nd.
BADMINTON: Meanwhile, GD Goenka won the boys under-17 final beating Army Public School (APS) Domana by 2-0. Singles: Rakshit beat Sayam while Ojas and Vansh trounced Sayam and Abhinav by 2-0 (21-06, 21-08).
